Theft

A woman in a sport-utility vehicle reportedly stole gas at a pump purchased by another customer at a Kent service station.

Service-station employees told Kent Police that a woman paid $12 for gas, but allegedly pumped $27.20 worth of gas before leaving the station at 10:17 a.m. June 4, from a station in the 21200 block of 84th Avenue South.

A woman paid $12 ahead of time to pump gas. She also bought cigarettes for $7.70. Another customer then entered the store and told the clerk he had paid for the wrong pump number, the pump being used by the woman, according to the police report.

The customer and a clerk told the woman to stop pumping the gas, but she ignored everyone before driving off, store employees told police.

Employees wrote down the license plate number of the SUV. Police traced the vehicle and printed out a montage of photos that included a shot of a woman registered as the owner of the SUV.

Store employees identified the woman from the photos as the one who reportedly took the gas. The store also had a videotape of the incident.

Police wrote an at-large citation to the woman for investigation of third-degree theft. The citation will be mailed to the woman.

Weapons

A Kent man reported threats from a man with a pistol during an incident June 3 at a home in the 26400 block of Military Road South.

A man told police that he owed a former client about $400 for an employment debt. That client drove up to the driveway at the man’s house June 3. When the man walked out to the vehicle with a check covering part of the debt, he reportedly saw a black pistol in the client’s hand, according to the police report.

The man in the car did not point the pistol, but allegedly told the other man, “If the check was bad, I’ll be back and you’ll have problems.”

Police wrote an at-large citation to the driver for harassment and displaying a dangerous weapon. The citation will be mailed to the man.

The driver talked police on the phone. He denied to the officer that he had a gun in the car. He told police the other man would be able to describe his gun because they had made trips to a shooting range together.

Assault

A fight broke out between two brothers and eventually involved two other men 5:44 p.m. June 2 at a bar parking lot in the 21200 block of 84th Avenue South.

Police arrested one of the brothers for investigation of fourth-degree assault, after he allegedly punched a man in the face who had tried to break up the fight, according to reports. They also arrested the same brother for investigation of malicious mischief after he reportedly pounded his fists against a vehicle and cracked the windshield.

Witnesses told police that the brothers had shown up at the bar for a birthday party. One witness said one brother became upset at the other brother regarding a girl.

The brothers then started to fight outside the bar, when two other customers tried to restrain one of the brothers. Witnesses said the one brother had tried unsuccessfully to calm down his brother in order to get him to leave the bar.
