Kent residents are invited to participate in National Public Lands Day <\/a>by pruning and weeding from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24 at Lake Fenwick Park<\/a>, 25828 Lake Fenwick Road.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Crews will work with the city of Kent to remove invasive plants that threaten the urban forest, prune the north parking lot area and plant native plants to keep the ecosystem healthy.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Volunteers are asked to bring a shovel or pruners if they have them. They should wear work gloves and sturdy shoes or boots. The event goes on rain or shine.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Participants are asked to sign up by Sept. 21 to help city park officials plan for the event.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n To sign up, call Victoria Andrews, special programs manager, at 253-856-5113, email vandrews@kentwa.gov or go to www.ci.kent.wa.us and search for parks volunteer.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
