{"id":8552,"date":"2015-07-16T12:54:50","date_gmt":"2015-07-16T19:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/cisks-fill-the-bus-school-supply-drive-under-way\/"},"modified":"2016-10-21T14:10:33","modified_gmt":"2016-10-21T21:10:33","slug":"cisks-fill-the-bus-school-supply-drive-under-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/cisks-fill-the-bus-school-supply-drive-under-way\/","title":{"rendered":"CISK&#8217;s Fill the Bus school supply drive under way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><strong>For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Communities In Schools of Kent hosts the third annual Fill The Bus school supply drive \u2013 now through Aug. 23.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The collection drive culminates in an event in partnership with Kent Station on Aug. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m., where supplies will be loaded on to a Kent School District bus in the parking lot.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Fill The Bus 2015 is a joint effort among Communities In Schools of Kent, the Kent School District, the Kent Kiwanis clubs, and Kent Station.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;We are honored to be selected by Kent School District to coordinate school supply efforts in the Kent and Covington communities,&#8221; said David de la Fuente, Communities In Schools of Kent executive director. &#8220;We will work hard to compliment existing services while encouraging new efforts to go those students not currently being served.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Suggested school supplies include, but are not limited to: spiral and composition notebooks; black and blue pens; No. 2 pencils; crayons; colored pencils; USB drives; calculators; sturdy backpacks; 2-inch binders; index cards; erasers; pencil boxes and pouches.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>For a complete list, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ciskent.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.ciskent.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Donated items can be dropped off at: Sweet Themes Bakery; U&#8217;nique Stylez Salon; Naked Pizza; Down Home Catering; Golden Steer; the Boeing Employees Tennis Club; the Kent Reporter; Valley Medical Center, Kent Clinic; and Valley Medical Center, Covington Clinic South. Churches participating are Zion Lutheran Church, Highpoint Church, River of Life Fellowship, and Kent United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>All donated items will be distributed to Kent School District schools beginning Aug. 31.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Financial contributions are also being accepted and can be given in-person on Aug. 20 at Kent Station between 5 and 8 p.m. or mailed to: Communities In Schools of Kent, P.O.
