A new Des Moines Goodwill Store will open Sept. 17 featuring shopping, a drop-off for gently used clothes and household goods, and providing support for Goodwill\u2019s job-training and placement programs.<\/p>\n
A grand-opening ceremony will take place that Thursday, from 8:45 to 9 a.m. at the store, 23313 Pacific Highway S., in La Plaza shopping center. Des Moines Mayor Bob Sheckler along with Goodwill Board of Directors President Bob Bruback and CEO Terry A. Hayes will be on hand. After the ceremony the store will open to the public.<\/p>\n
About 35 people, from the store manager to supervisors, cashiers and production clerks and donation attendants, were hired for the store.<\/p>\n
The Des Moines store is 17,000 square feet and formerly a QFC.<\/p>\n
