East Temperance Street and Clark Avenue North and that a bullet entered his living room within inches of a chair he would have been sitting in if he hadn’t gone to bed early.

The fight occurred at about 11:30 p.m.

“Officers responded to a report of a large fight in the area,” said Kent Police spokesman Jarod Kasner in a Friday email. “The fight dispersed as officers arrived. A short time later, we received a call of an illegal discharge in the area of Clark and Temperance. Officers arrived to find people rapidly leaving the area.”

Another resident in an email to the Kent Reporter said up to three dozen people came into the neighborhood in about 15 or 16 vehicles, stopped in the middle of the street and started to fight each other. They then opened fire on each other and left the area before police showed up. He claimed it took officers about an hour to show up after they were called and by that time everyone had fled.

“I don’t have that info right now,” Kasner said when asked about the one-hour response.

Kasner said police have few leads about the fight.

“Witnesses were uncooperative and we have received no reports of injuries and we have no suspects at this time,” he said.

Kasner said it was unknown why witnesses weren’t cooperating.

“Witnesses and people don’t cooperate for various reasons,” he said.

When asked how many people were involved in the fight or if it had gang ties, Kasner responded, “Don’t know.”

He said the ages of the people involved could be young adults.
