Panera Bread at Kent Station and at other locations is offering an introductory culinary experience for children ages 5-12.

The program targets aspiring bakers interested in the “Baker in Training” program that includes a journey through a Panera Bread bakery-cafe to learn the essentials of kitchen safety, proper food handling and food preparation, according to a Panera media release. All B.I.T. Kids will be outfitted with their own baking hat and apron, and learn the fundamentals of baking their own loaf of bread.

“The B.I.T. Kids program is truly a hands-on experience,” said Jordan Norona, Panera Bread bakery market manager in Seattle. “It allows children to explore their curiosity in the kitchen and create a fresh loaf of bread from start to finish. Plus, it provides children with a baking experience without any need for clean-up by parents.”

The Panera Bread B.I.T. Kids program is a workshop styled setup, designed for field trips or children’s groups. While the baguettes are baking the group enjoys cookies and milk along with a coloring activity.

To participate, groups must register a minimum of 10 children in order to set up a class. Classes are $8 per child and are available Monday through Friday with start times between 2 and 4:30 p.m., lasting approximately 90 minutes.
