The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 Saturday night at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.<\/p>\n

The T-Birds take on the Tri-City Americans 5 p.m. Oct. 11 at the ShoWare Center.<\/p>\n

Spokane (4-2-1-0) took a 1-0 lead at 2:39 of the first period on a goal by Kyle Beach. Levko Koper and Mitch Wahl had assists on the goal.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs outshot the T-Birds 9-3 in the first period.<\/p>\n

Jared Cowen put the Chiefs in front 2-0 37 seconds into the second period with an unassisted goal.<\/p>\n

Seattle (2-5-0-0) cut the Chiefs lead to one goal when Colin Jacobs scored at 4:33 of the second. Jonathan Parker sent the puck from the left corner around the Chiefs net. Jacobs was at the right post and took Parker’s pass and quickly jammed the puck under Spokane goalie James Reid. Reid was going post-to-post and could not get his leg down to stop Jacobs’ shot.<\/p>\n

Spokane took the two-goal lead back at 12:31 of the second on a goal by Blake Gal. Cowen and Koper had the assists.<\/p>\n

Spokane led 22-15 in total shots after two periods by outshooting the T-Birds 13-12 in the second period.<\/p>\n

Tyler Johnson put the Chiefs in front 4-1 when he scored at 10:47 of the third period. Gal and Kenton Miller had assists on the goal.<\/p>\n

Sena Acolatse was awarded a penalty shot at 17:52 of the third period when a Spokane defender used his hand to play a puck in the Spokane crease. Acolatse came down on Reid and made quick snap shot that Reid got stopped with his left leg.<\/p>\n

Spokane outshot Seattle 32-24 in the game.<\/p>\n

Seattle goalie Jacob DeSerres stopped 28 of 32 shots and his record is now 0-3-0-0.<\/p>\n

Reid made 23 saves on 24 shots and his record is now 3-1-0-0.<\/p>\n

T-Birds’ single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.<\/p>\n
