{"id":8126,"date":"2016-01-27T14:19:07","date_gmt":"2016-01-27T22:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/car-strikes-injures-kent-meridian-high-student\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T21:15:39","modified_gmt":"2016-10-23T04:15:39","slug":"car-strikes-injures-kent-meridian-high-student","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/car-strikes-injures-kent-meridian-high-student\/","title":{"rendered":"Car strikes, injures Kent-Meridian High student"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>A 16-year-old male student at <a title=\"map\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Kent-Meridian+High+School\/@47.3738823,-122.2070913,15z\/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xf3d9f08931814c7c\" target=\"_self\">Kent-Meridian High Schoo<\/a>l suffered life-threatening injuries on Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle hit him as he walked across a crosswalk in the school&#8217;s main parking lot.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Kent Police arrested a 22-year-old Kent man for investigation of vehicular assault after he reportedly entered the parking lot a high rate of speed, lost control and hit the student, said police spokeswoman Melanie Robinson in a phone interview.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Paramedics transported the boy to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries to his head. Robinson said she did not have an update about his condition.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u201cIt\u2019s a really unfortunate incident,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>School was not in session on Wednesday because of a teachers workshop day. Kent-Meridian is at 10020 S.E. 256th St.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Police said drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident, but speeding was a factor.
