{"id":8075,"date":"2012-03-22T14:58:24","date_gmt":"2012-03-22T21:58:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/kent-school-district-saves-taxpayer-dollars\/"},"modified":"2016-10-23T23:00:29","modified_gmt":"2016-10-24T06:00:29","slug":"kent-school-district-saves-taxpayer-dollars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-school-district-saves-taxpayer-dollars\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent School District saves taxpayer dollars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Kent School District staff saved taxpayers $1,295,071 in interest payments by refunding bonds approved in 2008.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The district refinanced $14,600,000 of Unlimited Tax General Obligation Bonds, Series 2003.The bonds were sold through a competitive bid process with nine bids being received.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>After a review and analysis of the submitted bids, the district\u2019s Chief Business Officer Richard Stedry awarded the winning bid for the sale of the bonds to Morgan Stanley &amp; Co. because the company was a responsible bidder offering the lowest true interest cost for the bonds.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u201cEducation is our top priority, but we are mindful that the district\u2019s biggest supporters \u2013 the people of this community \u2013 work hard for every dollar they earn.
