Boeing’s Kent facility was without power for about four hours Monday morning after a breaker tripped at a nearby Puget Sound Energy substation.

The power went out at about 6 a.m. Monday and was restored at about 10:10 a.m. to Boeing, said Dorothy Bracken, PSE spokeswoman. The large Boeing facility stretches from South 212th Street along West Valley Highway to South 196th Street.

About 2,000 PSE customers were without power. Most customers had power restored by 8:50 a.m., Bracken said.

Inspectors searched the substation to try to determine what caused the breaker to trip but could not find a cause, Bracken said.

Boeing suspended second-shift operations at the facility, according to the company’s website.

“Employees who can work from other locations are encouraged to do so by using flex time, working from an available hoteling center or making other arrangements such as telecommuting from home,” according to the Boeing update.

Employees were not allowed on the site until after PSE restored power.
