{"id":71660,"date":"2024-12-18T12:10:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-18T20:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-police-arrest-pair-for-downtown-robbery-of-pedestrian\/"},"modified":"2024-12-18T12:10:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-18T20:10:00","slug":"kent-police-arrest-pair-for-downtown-robbery-of-pedestrian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-police-arrest-pair-for-downtown-robbery-of-pedestrian\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Police arrest pair for downtown robbery of pedestrian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent Police arrested a man and a woman for investigation of robbery after they reportedly used pepper spray to take a man&rsquo;s wallet <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/auLPWMNwDgx8ckCo6\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"map\" rel=\"noopener\">as he walked downtown in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/auLPWMNwDgx8ckCo6\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"map\" rel=\"noopener\">North<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Officers responded at about 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16 after a 56-year-old Kent man reported he had been attacked with pepper spray while walking along the sidewalk, according to a Dec. 17 Kent Police statement. The man gave a description of the suspects to an officer, who put out the descriptions over police radio.<\/p>\n<p>Another officer saw a man and woman who reportedly matched the descriptions walking in the 500 block of East Smith Street, according to police. The officer took the pair into custody without incident.<\/p>\n<p>Police arrested a 48-year-old former Spokane man for robbery and two failure to appear warrants out of King County for possession of a stolen vehicle. The man also had a domestic violence no contact order prohibiting him from contacting the 31-year-old Auburn woman also arrested by officers.<\/p>\n<p>The man reportedly told officers he had swallowed drugs, apparently in an effort to avoid jail, according to police.
