An Auburn man has been charged with vehicular homicide following a Dec. 1 crash in Federal Way where he allegedly crashed into another man at a high rate of speed while intoxicated.<\/p>\n
According to charging documents filed by prosecutors in King County Superior Court on Dec. 4, Robinpreet Singh, whose last address was in Auburn, was charged with vehicular homicide committed while operating a vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug, and a second charge of reckless driving after hitting Ryan Golden, 35, in his vehicle.<\/p>\n
The documents state that on Dec. 1, Singh was driving his blue Mustang southbound on Interstate 5, and witnesses saw him traveling at speeds estimated to be over 100 mph before he hit Golden.<\/p>\n
“35-year-old Ryan Golden was the sole occupant and driver of the hit vehicle,” the document stated. “It was a very violent collision and Mr. Golden suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.”<\/p>\n
The documents state that Singh, alongside two other men, had been at a wedding where it was later determined they had consumed alcohol before he had hit Golden. The documents state that after Singh collided with Golden’s vehicle, Singh’s vehicle came to rest on the freeway, approximately 280 feet south of Golden’s vehicle, which, upon impact, spun multiple times and came to rest facing the wrong way on the road.<\/p>\n
When police arrived on the scene, Singh admitted to having driven the vehicle, had seatbelt marks consistent with the driver, and had the key fob for the car in his pocket, the documents state. The document states that Singh agreed to a breathalyzer test, which found his blood alcohol level to be 0.132, one and a half times the legal limit. Additionally, he agreed to take a field sobriety test, but the test ended early because Singh was being argumentative about how it was being administered and complained that it was taking too long.<\/p>\n
According to charging documents, witnesses to the incident reported that they were passed by a dark blue Mustang, making multiple lane changes without regard to surrounding traffic, at a speed of about 120 mph. One of the witnesses also described each person in the Mustang, and according to the document, the driver’s description matched that of Singh’s.<\/p>\n
According to the documents, the state requested that Singh’s bail be set at $500,000 due to flight concerns because he has no local family, and his family he is in contact with lives in India. They also cited pending citations as a reason for the bail amount.<\/p>\n
Despite the state’s request, the documents said the court ordered $25,000 bail, which the state would not disturb. Additionally, the documents said that the state requests no consumption or possession of alcohol, no entering any business where alcohol is the primary commodity for sale, no driving without a valid license, insurance, and proof of installation of an ignition interlock device, and no moving violations for Singh. Additionally, the state requested that Singh be placed on electronic home detention should he post bail.<\/p>\n
As of Dec. 10, Singh is being held at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent on the $25,000 bail. He has been in custody since 3:39 a.m. Dec. 2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
