The Kent Reporter athletes of the week for the week of Dec. 6 are from Kent-Meridian; Aisha Hussein (Jr.) Girls Wrestling, Alex Arians (Jr.) Swim. <\/p>\n
What do you value in your sport or about your team?<\/strong><\/p>\n Arians: <\/strong>I value loyalty, dedication, perseverance and comradery.<\/p>\n Hussein: <\/strong>I value the commitment and hard work and how much dedication our team puts in to get better.<\/p>\n What have you learned from your sport that you can take with you throughout your life\/future?<\/strong><\/p>\n Arians:<\/strong> That not everything can be done alone. <\/p>\n Hussein: <\/strong>I have learned that if you really want to succeed in something you made need to sacrifice.<\/p>\n What do you do when you aren’t motivated and what helps you stay motivated?<\/strong><\/p>\n Arians:<\/strong> <\/strong>When I am not motivated, I like to listen to music. It also helps me stay motivated. <\/p>\n Hussein: <\/strong>I have the mindset that there is someone out there training to get where I am at. So I have to work harder.<\/p>\n Do you have a favorite pre-game meal?<\/strong><\/p>\n Arians:<\/strong> Biscuits and gravy<\/p>\n Hussein: <\/strong>Turkey sandwich<\/p>\n What advice would you give to a teammate that is struggling?<\/strong><\/p>\n Arians:<\/strong> To ask a teammate or coach for help and to never give up.<\/p>\n Hussein: <\/strong>Never give up even if you have no hope.<\/p>\n From the sidelines<\/strong>:<\/p>\n Arians: <\/strong>Alex has shown determination and bravery by being the only boy swimmer from Kent-Meridian. Although we co-op practice with Kentwood he is the lone representative from Kent-Meridian. Most athletes in that situation would be tempted to quit, we are glad he didn’t.<\/p>\n Hussein:<\/strong> Aisha consistently shows up to practice willing to work hard, learn and encourage teammates.
