{"id":713,"date":"2015-09-23T14:45:24","date_gmt":"2015-09-23T21:45:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/machinists-raise-12000-for-charity-with-kent-go-kart-race\/"},"modified":"2016-10-23T15:40:37","modified_gmt":"2016-10-23T22:40:37","slug":"machinists-raise-12000-for-charity-with-kent-go-kart-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/machinists-raise-12000-for-charity-with-kent-go-kart-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Machinists raise $12,000 for charity with Kent go-kart race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><strong>For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Machinists Union members raised more than $12,000 for charity with a recent go-kart race at PGP Motorsports Park at Pacific Raceways in Kent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The Sept. 12 event, sponsored by Machinists Union Local Lodge 751-F, featured 17 teams of four drivers who hit speeds up to 50 mph as they circled the course for two hours.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;Our Karting Challenege is always a fun event, thanks to our volunteers, our sponsors and the folks at Pacific Raceways who help us put it on,&#8221; said Local 751-F President Robley Evans. &#8220;We had good weather and a great time, and raised a lot of money for a really great charity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>All proceeds will support to Guide Dogs of America, a California-based charity that provides service dogs and training in their use to people who are blind or have impaired vision from across the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Local 751-F is affiliated with Machinists Union District Lodge 751, which is the No. 1 fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America.
