The Kent Reporter athletes of the week for the week of Oct. 11 are from Kent-Meridian; Tajveer Singh (Sr.) tennis, Neveah Molina (Sr.) volleyball.<\/p>\n
What do you value in your sport or about your team?<\/strong><\/p>\n Molina:<\/strong> I value the connection that I have with my team, we’ve really become a family over time. <\/p>\n Singh: <\/strong>I value my teammates who support me even if I win or lose my teammates push me and help me strive for success.<\/p>\n What have you learned from your sport that you can take with you throughout your life\/future?<\/strong><\/p>\n Molina: <\/strong>That it’s okay to make mistakes, and forgiving yourself is the first step to success. <\/p>\n Singh: <\/strong>Tennis has taught me discipline, good problem solving skills and has helped me grow as a person.<\/p>\n What do you do when you aren’t motivated and what helps you stay motivated?<\/strong><\/p>\n Molina :<\/strong> I tell myself to lock in really and forget that last play and focus on moving forward. Something that helps me stay motivated is my team, I have to fight for them and not just me. <\/p>\n Singh: <\/strong>hen I’m not motivated, I like to go to the basics of tennis. It helps me clear my mind and really dial in.<\/p>\n Do you have a favorite pre-game meal?<\/strong><\/p>\n Molina: <\/strong>Sour Patch Kids or Sweet Tart Ropes <\/p>\n Singh: <\/strong>My favorite pre-game meal is a bowl from Chipotle.<\/p>\n What advice would you give to a teammate that is struggling?<\/strong><\/p>\n Molina: <\/strong>Keep your head up Queen and just let them know that I believe in them so they should too. <\/p>\n Singh: <\/strong>My advice for a struggling teammate is network. There are many people out there who would want to play tennis with you and help you improve. This is one of those sports that requires a lot of patience.<\/p>\n From the sidelines:<\/strong><\/p>\n Molina: <\/strong>Navaeh is a tireless worker and leader of the volleyball team. She leads the team in kills, digs and aces. Both on and off the court, Nevaeh is a great team member, kind and always has a smile on her face. <\/p>\n Singh: <\/strong>Taj has had an amazing Senior year. He started tennis as a Freshman and worked hard to improve his game to singles #1 for KM. He is a great captain because he encourages his teammates and also helps coach them in the off season and after practice.
