Kent Police arrested three teens, ages 16, 15 and 13, after stopping the reportedly fleeing stolen vehicle with a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver.<\/p>\n

Officers arrested the 16-year-old male driver, of Seattle, for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding and obstructing public officers, according to an Aug. 21 Kent Police news release.<\/p>\n

An officer spotted a reported stolen Hyundai Elantra at about 4:12 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 moving in the area of Central Avenue North and South 228th Street,<\/a> according to police. The officer requested another officer so he could initiate a high-risk traffic stop.<\/p>\n

After the officer activated his emergency lights, the vehicle reportedly sped up and began to flee. Shortly after the pursuit started, the officer found a safe location to utilize a PIT maneuver, where the officer uses his vehicle to hit the rear quarter panel of the fleeing vehicle to cause it to spin out. The maneuver worked.<\/p>\n

The three teens exited the vehicle and fled on foot, according to police. An officer caught up with the driver and took him into custody.<\/p>\n

Another officer found one passenger, a 15-year-old Seattle girl, hiding in a nearby apartment complex. Officers also took a 13-year-old Seattle boy into custody. Officers arrested the two passengers for investigation of vehicle trespass and obstructing public officers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
