A sampling of Kent Police incidents July 8-22:<\/p>\n
July 8<\/strong><\/p>\n Commercial burglary<\/strong>: 7:30 a.m., patrol responded to Altec, 800 First Ave. S, regarding a commercial burglary over the weekend. The reporting party indicated several trucks had been broken into, and the fence had been damaged. A photo of the suspect was disseminated, and officers apprehended the individual nearby.<\/p>\n Saars robbery<\/strong>: 10:32 a.m., patrol responded to a robbery at Saars Super Saver, 25900 104th Ave. S. The victim, a vendor at the business, reported that an unknown individual arrived in a vehicle and demanded bread. The suspect brandished a firearm, prompting the victim to flee inside the business. The suspect then fled the scene.<\/p>\n July 9<\/strong><\/p>\n Target shoplifting<\/strong>: 9:25 p.m.,patrol responded to Target, 26300 104th Ave. SE, for a shoplifting incident. After the shoplifting, the suspect got into a stolen vehicle and attempted to flee. A pursuit ensued, and the suspect vehicle was successfully spiked. The occupants fled on foot, and a dog in the vehicle bit two officers during the arrest.<\/p>\n July 10<\/strong><\/p>\n Safeway robbery<\/strong>: Officers responded to a robbery at Safeway, 13101 SE Kent-Kangley Road. The victim reported that four suspects attempted to rob him, threatening him with guns and swords. After a prolonged standoff, all four suspects were arrested at a residence in Country Glen Apartments, 27400 132nd Ave. SE. Patrol, Special Operations Unit (SOU), detectives, and SWAT coordinated efforts to resolve the situation safely.<\/p>\n Big Lots theft<\/strong>: An officer responded to a theft incident at Big Lots, 1301 W. Meeker St. The suspect was located on West Smith Street and attempted to flee on foot. After issuing verbal warnings, the officer tased the suspect, who was then taken into custody and booked.<\/p>\n July 12<\/strong><\/p>\n 7-Eleven robbery<\/strong>: 4:57 a.m., patrol responded to 7-Eleven, 24000 104th Ave. SE, for a robbery. Two suspects entered the store and brandished a firearm at the clerk. One suspect attempted to come around the counter, causing the clerk to flee to the backroom. The suspects then fled in a vehicle.<\/p>\n Commercial <\/strong>burglary<\/strong>: An officer responded to a commercial burglary at a cell tower site at 22222 70th Ave. S. The estimated loss was $200,000. The case has been referred to detectives.<\/p>\n July 13<\/strong><\/p>\n BECU robbery<\/strong>: A robbery occurred at BECU, 321 Ramsay Way at Kent Station. The victim, after opening a new account, was coerced by known individuals from the transit center to withdraw money from an ATM. When this was unsuccessful, they drove the victim around for 30 minutes before abandoning him in Auburn, where he called 911.<\/p>\n Home Depot shooting<\/strong>: 8:56 p.m., patrol responded to Home Depot, 26100 104th Ave. SE, regarding a possible shooting. Witnesses reported a vehicle confronted several individuals in the parking lot. The driver brandished a pistol and fired several rounds while the passenger assaulted a male. All parties, including the victim, fled the scene.<\/p>\n July 14<\/strong><\/p>\n Stolen vehicles<\/strong>: An officer was dispatched to 418 Kennebeck Ave. for an air tag “ping” indicating a stolen motorcycle. The officer observed a stolen U-Haul and a motorcycle. A search warrant was obtained, and the UHaul and motorcycle were recovered.<\/p>\n July 15<\/strong><\/p>\n Commercial burglaries<\/strong>: 3:11 a.m., patrol responded to Pita Pit, 20000 68th Ave. S, regarding a burglary. The back door was damaged, and an amplifier was stolen. Nearby businesses, L and L Hawaiian BBQ and Just Pho were also burglarized, and coins and documents were stolen.<\/p>\n July 18<\/strong><\/p>\n Apartment shooting<\/strong>: 1:14 p.m., patrol responded to Chandlers Bay Apartments, 1020 Central Ave. N., about a fight, which updated to a shooting. A witness reported to patrol that many teens were arguing, seemingly targeting one specific person. The witness went on to say numerous teens were armed and eventually started shooting. While investigating, three juveniles turned up at the urgent care in Tukwila; ultimately, two were arrested (released to parents after administrative booking).<\/p>\n July 19<\/strong><\/p>\n Assault<\/strong>: A male subject shoved and spit in the face of his female girlfriend. The assault was captured on a neighbor’s Ring camera. The female had left the apartment and was located a short time later by responding officers. The male half was seen inside the apartment through an open sliding glass door. He refused to exit the apartment after multiple attempts to gain compliance. An officer authored a residential search warrant, which was authorized. The Patrol Officer entry team was assembled, and a key was obtained from management. Entry was made, and the suspect called out from the rear bedroom and was arrested without incident.<\/p>\n July 20<\/strong><\/p>\n Attempted carjacking<\/strong>: 12:24 a.m., patrol responded to 10400 SE 235th St. about an attempted carjacking. The victim had just returned home when the suspect came from behind him, pointing a gun at him, and demanded his money and keys. The victim fled towards their backyard while the suspect left in the vehicle they arrived in.<\/p>\n Man shot<\/strong>: 3:35 a.m., patrol responded to the area of Central Avenue and Titus Street about a male yelling for help. The caller stated a male was yelling and walking along the sidewalk when 3-4 shots were heard, followed by the person screaming for help. Patrol arrived and found a male on the ground who had been shot. The male went to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and is in stable condition.<\/p>\n July 21<\/strong><\/p>\n Shooting<\/strong>: 2:17 a.m., patrol responded to Townplace Suites, 18100 72nd Ave. S., about a shooting. Patrol arrived and contacted several witnesses, along with the victim, who had been shot in the leg. All were unable to describe the suspect(s) or how the victim was shot. There was one casing located at the scene, which the patrol collected.<\/p>\n July 22<\/strong><\/p>\n Drugs found<\/strong>: Officers responded to a report of two subjects passed out in a vehicle on Van De Vanter Avenue. They located the vehicle and detained the individuals due to a large amount of drug paraphernalia visible in the vehicle. The VIN (vehicle identification number) had been removed from most places, and they tried to obliterate it on the dash. They got the VIN and found the vehicle was reported stolen almost a year ago. An officer’s interview with the driver produced a wealth of information relating to guns\/drugs being sold in the city.
