Sarah Stockwell fell short of one goal, but easily achieved another one during the United States Olympic swim trials last week in Omaha, Neb.

The Kentlake High graduate, who will be a senior at Indiana University this fall, competed in the 100-meter breaststroke and finished 38th in 1:11.21. That was a personal-best time by more than a full second from her entry mark of 1:12.24, and Stockwell said prior to the trials that a PR was her primary goal. She also was hoping to make the top 16, but while missing out on that, she still climbed considerably from her 84th-seeded entry position.

Courtney Eronemo, a Kentwood graduate who won five state high school titles in five different events and will be a junior at the University of California-Berkeley, placed 45th in the 200 individual medley in 2:18.92, and 59th in the 400 IM in 4:56.12.

Two Kent residents who just graduated from Kennedy High School in Burien last month also were at the trials.

Brianne Lindblad, who won four consecutive Class 3A titles in the 100-yard backstroke and 11 state gold medals overall during her four years with the Lancers, swam the 100-meter back in Omaha, and was 114th in 1:05.62. Lindblad will attend Rutgers University on a swimming scholarship.

Kevin Munsch, a state 100-yard breaststroke champion and also a multiple state titleist with the Lancers, was 72nd in the 100-meter breast in 1:06.17. Munsch is headed to defending NCAA champion Arizona on a swimming scholarship.
