{"id":69370,"date":"2024-05-12T15:49:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-12T22:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/two-die-in-single-car-crash-in-kent-on-west-hill\/"},"modified":"2024-05-12T15:49:00","modified_gmt":"2024-05-12T22:49:00","slug":"two-die-in-single-car-crash-in-kent-on-west-hill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/two-die-in-single-car-crash-in-kent-on-west-hill\/","title":{"rendered":"Two die in single-car crash in Kent on West Hill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two people were killed in a single-car crash Saturday, May 11 in Kent <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/8fuz51NTLJpApzox7\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"map\" rel=\"noopener\">in the 2400 block of South 272nd Street on the West <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/8fuz51NTLJpApzox7\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"map\" rel=\"noopener\">Hill, just west of Interstate 5<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Officers were dispatched at about 7:40 p.m. after multiple witnesses called 911 to report a speeding vehicle had struck a tree and caught fire, according to a May 11 Kent Police news release. Witnesses said they tried to remove the two occupants but were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p>On arrival, officers and Puget Sound Fire personnel found a white sedan completely engulfed in flames, according to police. Both people already were dead.<\/p>\n<p>Police traffic investigators are looking into what led up to the crash. The King County Medical Examiner&rsquo;s Office is conducting the investigation as to the cause of death, and the identities of the vehicle occupants.<\/p>\n<p>If you witnessed this crash or have any information, please call the police nonemergency dispatch line 253-852-2121 and ask to speak to an officer.
