The King County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the cause and manner of death of a Kentwood High School student are pending.<\/p>\n
The medical examiner confirmed the identity of Oscar Lindsay, 15, who died Feb. 7 at 16400 SE 251st St., which is the address of Mattson Middle School in Covington. The report identified the location as a medic rig or paramedic vehicle.<\/p>\n
Cases that have cause and manner of death listed as “pending” will be added to the list again when cause and manner of death are determined, according to the King County Medical Examiner website.<\/p>\n
The King County Sheriff’s Office, which contracts with the City of Covington for police services, issued the following statement Feb. 8:<\/p>\n
“This incident is not being investigated as a ‘suspicious’ (death),” said Sgt. Eric White, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, in an email. “This appears to be associated with a medical event only. The Major Crimes Unit responds to all deaths of children under the age of 18. Our thoughts are with the child’s family during this difficult time.”<\/p>\n
The Sheriff’s Office said it would have no further comment about the incident.<\/p>\n
Social media reports indicated that emergency vehicles headed to a school bus near Mattson Middle School, just north up the road from Kentwood, 25800 164th Ave. SE.<\/p>\n
The Kent Reporter has reached out to the Kent School District for information about the incident, but as of Friday afternoon, Feb. 9 had not received a response.<\/p>\n
