Assault

A 48-year-old man reportedly stabbed a 41-year-old woman in the hand with a fork during a dispute at about 12:10 p.m. Nov. 16 at a chemical dependency treatment center in the 500 block of Washington Avenue South.

Kent Police arrested the man for investigation of fourth-degree assault, according to the police report.

The woman told officers she began arguing with the man during lunch in the cafeteria and that the man swept the salt and pepper shakers off of her table with his hand.

The woman told police she stood up and pointed her finger in the man’s face and the man told her, “Be careful because I’ll kill you,” as he allegedly slashed at her hand with a small fork.

Police noted that the woman had a small puncture wound on her hand.

The man told officers that the woman made a lot of remarks about him that he didn’t like because she told lies about him. The man denied he had used a fork to hit her hand. He said he knocked a napkin out of her hands with his open hand.

Police noted that the treatment center would not allow the man to return to the center after his release from jail. The man would be required by his probation officer to report to a treatment center in Tacoma.

Malicious mischief

Police arrested a man for investigation of third-degree malicious mischief after he kicked the drum set from a video game during a dispute with his wife Nov. 14 at an apartment in the 27400 block of 132nd Avenue Southeast.

The couple argued about the husband needing to spend more time with his wife and children, according to the police report.

The husband reportedly kicked the drum set during the argument. The wife told officers she later threw a piece of the drum set across the room.

The wife told police that her husband dumped a can of pop over her head during the argument. She told officers she did not want her husband arrested.

The officers tried to explain to the woman that her husband was the primary aggressor when he kicked the drum set so that was the reason they arrested him.

Theft

A 46-year-old man reportedly took a Chinese takeout dinner at about 2:37 p.m. Nov. 13 from a store in the 200 block of Washington Avenue South because he said he was homeless and wanted a hot meal.

Police arrested the man for investigation of third-degree theft, according to the police report.

Store security watched the man order orange chicken, a supreme combo and an egg roll. The man received the food and walked around the back of the store and then out the front door with no attempt to pay for the items.

The man told officers, “I’m guilty.” He added that he was homeless, had no money and wanted a hot meal. The meal was priced at $16.24.

Police also arrested the man for investigation of second-degree criminal trespass because he had been banned from the store Nov. 5 for allegedly stealing a case of beer.

Drugs

Police cited an 18-year-old man for investigation of possession of marijuana after he was spotted by police Nov. 13 in an alcove of a parking garage in the Kent Station shopping mall.

A bicycle officer saw about four people huddled in the garage and noticed the smell of marijuana, according to the police report.

The 18-year-old man told police the marijuana cigarette belonged to him. Officers told the man he would receive a citation through the mail and released him.
