Over the last two years, Auburn High School’s Jaylen Petty has been a scoring machine.

On Jan. 23, the 5-foot-11 junior guard reached a mile marker that just seven players in Auburn’s last 25 years have achieved.

Petty passed the 1,000 point mark against Kentlake High School on Jan. 23 in a 109-32 win for the Trojans. Petty has played just 45 games with the Trojans in two seasons, with his freshman year at Rainier Beach. His point total over those 45 games is 1,025 — which gives him a career average of 22.7 points per game.

Petty joins seven other players who have made the 1,000 point club in the past 25 seasons of Auburn High School basketball. The most recent was a pair of Trojans back in the state championship season (2021-22): Tre Blassingame (University of Idaho) and Kaden Hansen (St. Martin’s) .

“Jaylen hitting the 1,000-point mark in his junior season is ridiculous,” said Auburn Head Coach Ryan Hansen. “Jaylen is a terrific scorer, shooter, slasher, he does it all. What makes Jaylen so special is his competitive spirit and willingness to defend at a high level. With another year and good health, Jaylen could be the first ever potential 2,000-point scorer in Auburn HS history.”

Auburn’s all-time leading scorer in the past 25 seasons is Kevin Henderson, who scored 1,290 points from 2008-11.

Petty is back in action against Auburn Riverside on Jan. 25 at home. </ins>

[11,6
["post-67680","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home2","category-sports
