Puget Sound Fire recently recognized outgoing board members Les Thomas and Allan Barrie for their 13 years of service.

Thomas and Barrie are original members of the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority (RFA) Governance Board formed in 2010 after voters approved the merger of the Kent Fire Department and Fire District 37.

Thomas has represented the Kent City Council, where he is wrapping up a 20-year career. Barrie represents Fire District 37. The two were honored at the Dec. 6 Puget Sound Fire board meeting.

“Puget Sound Fire would like to thank both Allan and Les for your 13½ years of dedicated service as RFA Governance Board members,” according to a Puget Sound Fire statement. “Your legacy is that you made the fire service for the communities you represent better, and you always put the needs of the community and firefighters first.”

Thomas and Barrie assisted with the development and creation of the original RFA plan. They have also held positions of chairperson, vice chairperson and served as members of regional committees.

The Puget Sound Fire Governance Board is comprised of three Kent City Council members, three Fire District 37 Commissioners, and one non-voting advisory board member from the cities of Covington, SeaTac, Tukwila, and Maple Valley/King County Fire District 43.
