behind the Lowe’s Home Improvement store in the 3100 block of South 240th Street<\/a> on the West Hill.<\/p>\nA 911 call on Monday, Nov. 6 reported a stolen vehicle in a field behind Lowe’s, just west of Interstate 5 and east of Pacific Highway South.<\/p>\n
Officers arrived and discovered numerous unoccupied stolen vehicles, according to a Nov. 7 Kent Police statement. Officers set up stop sticks and perimeter units to dissuade anyone watching from trying to jump in a car to flee.<\/p>\n
“They then went to work figuring out how to extract them from the muddy field, gather evidence and get them back to their owners,” according to police.<\/p>\n
Eight vehicles were found, including one hidden under a tarp. All of the stolen vehicles were taken from cities and counties in Western Washington, according to police. The owners have been contacted.<\/p>\n
A list of the vehicles recovered:<\/p>\n
• 2000 Dodge Ram 2500, stolen in Renton<\/p>\n
• 2008 BMW 328, reported stolen to Washington State Patrol, registered in Renton<\/p>\n
• 1998 Dodge Ram 2500, stolen in King County<\/p>\n
• U-Haul car hauler trailer, stolen in Federal Way<\/p>\n
• 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, stolen in Federal Way<\/p>\n
• 2002 Ford F-350, stolen in Snohomish County<\/p>\n
• 2006 Ford Econline van, stolen in Kirkland<\/p>\n
• 2002 Ford F-250, stolen in King County<\/p>\n
Tips to prevent vehicle theft<\/strong><\/p>\nKent Police offered several tips to help keep vehicles from being stolen:<\/p>\n
• Do not leave valuables, garage door opener or other items in your car<\/p>\n
• Install a car alarm <\/p>\n
• Park in well-lit occupied areas<\/p>\n
• Hide an Air tag type device inside<\/p>\n
• Use a club steering wheel device<\/p>\n
