King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn and state Sen. Phil Fortunato, R-Auburn, are part of the Washington State Leadership Team for the presidential campaign of Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The DeSantis campaign announced the 13-member team in an Oct. 3 press release.

Dunn represents the county’s District 9, which sprawls from southern Bellevue through the East Hill of Kent to the Enumclaw Plateau. Fortunato represents the state’s 31st Legislative District, which includes parts of Auburn, Enumclaw, Bonney Lake, Buckley and Sumner.

“I’m supporting the only candidate in this race who is focused on the future,” said Dunn, of Bellevue, in the press release. “We can’t afford to relitigate 2020. Ron DeSantis has led the charge on all these issues that matter to Americans. I’ve seen what he’s done in Florida, and now I’m ready to see what he can do for the country as president.”

Fortunato also was quoted in the press release.

“I’m proud to endorse Ron DeSantis for president,” Fortunato said. “I see him as someone that will protect the Supreme Court, address the immigration crisis, and bring some sanity to education to protect our children and empower parents. There’s nothing more important than defeating Joe Biden in 2024, and Ron DeSantis is the only candidate I believe will get the job done.”
