{"id":64862,"date":"2023-09-30T07:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-30T14:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/dept-of-health-launches-dashboard-to-track-overdose-death-data\/"},"modified":"2023-09-30T07:30:00","modified_gmt":"2023-09-30T14:30:00","slug":"dept-of-health-launches-dashboard-to-track-overdose-death-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/dept-of-health-launches-dashboard-to-track-overdose-death-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Dept. of Health launches dashboard to track overdose death data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has introduced a new &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/doh.wa.gov\/data-and-statistical-reports\/washington-tracking-network-wtn\/opioids\/unintentional-drug-overdose-data-sudors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unintentional Drug Overdose Data dashboard<\/a>&rdquo; that the agency says will provide valuable insights for addressing substance use disorders in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The DOH claims the data provided by the dashboard will be used to better understand characteristics and circumstances surrounding each overdose death, including the type of drugs involved and whether they were illicitly manufactured or prescribed.<\/p>\n<p>Relevant drug overdose death data is collected through the State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System, known as &ldquo;SUDORS.&rdquo; According to the DOH, SUDORS links information from coroner and medical examiner reports, toxicology, autopsy, and, when possible, prescription drug monitoring program data.<\/p>\n<p>Data on the dashboard will be refreshed twice a year in the Spring and Fall.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen Washington counties currently participate in the program, representing about 88% of statewide overdose deaths.
