A sampling of Kent Police incidents Aug. 23 to Sept. 9:<\/p>\n
Aug. 23<\/strong><\/p>\n Cheddarboy Popcorn burglary<\/strong>: 12:27 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a commercial burglary that happened overnight at Cheddarboy Popcorn, 24823 Pacific Highway S. A vehicle was used to smash in the front doors causing over $10,000 in damage and the suspects stole over $10,000 in property.<\/p>\n Aug. 30<\/strong><\/p>\n Home invasion<\/strong>: 4 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at a residence in the 3600 block of South 254th Place. Multiple suspects armed with firearms kicked in the victim’s front door, awoke them, and began demanding money and valuables. The suspects fled the residence and were seen getting into a vehicle.<\/p>\n Home invasion<\/strong>: 4:33 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residential alarm in the 11500 block of SE 219th Pl. The victims stated they were awakened when multiple suspects broke in through their front door and began robbing the family at gunpoint by demanding money and valuables. The suspects then fled but were not seen getting into a vehicle.<\/p>\n Parking lot robbery<\/strong>: 8:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at 520 Washington Ave. S. The victim was driving home and pulled into the LA Fitness parking lot to call his father. He was there for about 20 to 30 minutes when a vehicle pulled up beside him, the passenger got out, and robbed him of his wallet at gunpoint.<\/p>\n Robbery at gunpoint<\/strong>: 10:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at LA Fitness, 12922 SE Kent Kangley Road. The victim walked out of the business to go to his vehicle when he saw his window was shattered. The suspect vehicle circled back through the parking lot and pulled up to the victim. The driver pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim, and repeatedly stated, “whatcha gonna do.” The suspect then fled in the vehicle. The victim discovered around $1,000 worth of property was missing from his vehicle. During the investigation, multiple other vehicles were found to have been broken into in similar fashion.<\/p>\n Sept. 1<\/strong><\/p>\n Stolen vehicle<\/strong>: 4:55 p.m., officers received an alert from Flock (communication app) about a stolen vehicle. The driver was 14 years old, and the passenger was 12 years old. Seven vehicle ignitions were located in the vehicle, likely to facilitate stealing other vehicles.<\/p>\n Sept. 3<\/strong><\/p>\n Apartment <\/strong>robbery<\/strong>: 3:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery inside the Ethos Apartments, 2200 W. Meeker St. A female suspect entered their building and took the elevator. The suspect was not a resident of the complex. When the suspect came back down the elevator, she was carrying two boxes that appeared to belong to other residents. The suspect was confronted, and she pulled out a knife and swung it at the victim. The suspect left the scene but was located by officers and taken into custody. The knife and stolen packages were recovered.<\/p>\n Sept. 5<\/strong><\/p>\n Beauty shop burglary<\/strong>: 3:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to a commercial burglary at Kone’s Beauty Supply, 8467 S. 212th St. The employee locked the front door, left the keys hanging in the lock from the interior and was working inside alone. Before she was about to leave, she went into the back and used the bathroom. At the same time, the suspects arrived on scene in a vehicle, pried open the front door, and one suspect entered armed with a handgun. The suspect began to search the building while pointing the handgun around with an attached green laser light. The suspect removed about $1,000 in cash from the register. He took the keys stuck in the interior lock as he left. The suspect then got into the victim’s vehicle and left as the suspect vehicle followed.<\/p>\n Road rage<\/strong>: 4:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a threat with a weapon at the intersection of Veterans Drive and Military Road S. The victim was driving when he thought he might have cut off another driver while merging into a different lane. He looked into his rearview mirror and saw the driver behind him was talking and appeared angry. The suspect driver changed lanes, drove up next to the victim and began yelling at him. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and pointed it directly at the victim.<\/p>\n Sept. 6<\/strong><\/p>\n Threat with a weapon<\/strong>: 9:43 a.m., officers were dispatched to a threat with a weapon in the 11200 block of SE 244th Place. The victim observed the unknown suspect attempting to open different doors on vehicles in the area. The suspect approached the victim’s vehicle and tried to open his door. The suspect eventually pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim and then fled on foot.<\/p>\n Sept. 8<\/strong><\/p>\n Gun threat<\/strong>: 4:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to a threat with a weapon at a residence in the 27100 block of 31st Avenue S. The victim watched two suspects walking around the neighborhood who were not known to the area and watched as they walked into a new neighborhood under construction. When they walked back towards the victim and onto her property it prompted her to confront them. One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The suspects ended up fleeing the scene on foot. Officers were able to locate the suspects and found a bag nearby that appeared to have a handgun inside. The suspects were placed under arrest.<\/p>\n Sept. 9<\/strong><\/p>\n Chevron robbery<\/strong>: 12:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at Chevron, 631 Central Ave. N. Three suspects entered the store and robbed the employee at gunpoint. The suspects were seen fleeing in a vehicle.<\/p>\n Tobacco shop alarm<\/strong>: 3:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to an alarm at EZ Tobacco, 1428 W. Meeker St. Upon arrival they found a suspected stolen vehicle backed into the front doors of the business creating significant damage to gain entry. However due to the damage created, it did not appear the suspects could have gained entry and left the vehicle on scene. The vehicle was impounded as evidence.<\/p>\n Carjacking<\/strong>: 2:58 a.m., an officer took a phone report from a victim of a carjacking at the Taqueria El Rinconsito, 25914 Pacific Highway S. The victim was with an unknown female when two suspects approached him and robbed him of his vehicle at gunpoint. The victim did not know where the female went as this robbery occurred and either could not or would not provide specific details about the incident. The vehicle was later recovered by the King County Sheriff’s Office in Maple Valley. The vehicle was impounded as evidence.<\/p>\n 76 station robbery<\/strong>: 7:09 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at the 76 Gas Station, 12928 SE Kent Kangley Road. Three suspects came into the store and robbed the employee at gunpoint. They were seen fleeing in a vehicle.<\/p>\n Assault<\/strong>: 12:37 p.m., officers were dispatched to Chandler’s Bay Apartments, 1020 Central Ave. N., for a report of a physical domestic assault outside the building. The male was leaving the area in a vehicle with the female clinging to the vehicle before being thrown from the vehicle and sustaining substantial injury. The female and male were in a dating relationship and the initial argument was over money and possession of a rental vehicle.
