{"id":64169,"date":"2023-09-06T15:55:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-06T22:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/dump-truck-driver-dies-in-kent-crash-at-state-route-167-ramp\/"},"modified":"2023-09-07T09:51:03","modified_gmt":"2023-09-07T16:51:03","slug":"dump-truck-driver-dies-in-kent-crash-at-state-route-167-ramp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/dump-truck-driver-dies-in-kent-crash-at-state-route-167-ramp\/","title":{"rendered":"Dump truck driver dies in Kent crash on State Route 167 | Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 54-year-old Gig Harbor man was killed in Kent after his dump truck sustained a blown tire, went out of control and crashed on northbound State Route 167 near Willis Street.<\/p>\n<p>The crash was at about 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, according to a phone interview with Trooper Rick Johnson of the Washington State Patrol. No other vehicles were involved and the truck had just one occupant.<\/p>\n<p>The truck was traveling northbound in lane one of three when it sustained a blown tire and crossed the gore point (a triangle-shaped zone) of the entrance ramp from State Route 516 (aka Willis Street), according to a State Patrol media report. The truck rolled and came to rest on its driver&rsquo;s side. Jeffrey A. Still, the driver, died at the scene, according to the State Patrol.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson said the truck was hauling mud. Much of the mud spilled onto the ramp.
