Drivers will face a southbound curb lane closure on Central Avenue North in Kent through Oct. 6

The closure began Aug. 9 beginning at the 1100 block of Central Avenue to Novak Lane, according to the city Public Works Department. The lane is closed at Bowen Scarff Ford. The street returns to two lanes after Novak Lane.

“This work is related to construction of the nearby apartment complex, located on Novak Lane,” said City Public Works Director Chad Bieren in an Aug. 11 email. “They are adding a traffic island to Novak Lane to restrict left turns onto Central Avenue.”

Traffic control is in place for the 24/7 closure.

A developer is building a 194-unit, five-story, mixed-use apartment complex along Novak Lane, just west of Central Avenue North, south of Bowen Scarff Ford and southwest of Carpinito Brothers.

Alliance Pacific Northwest Builders, of Seattle, part of Arizona-based Alliance Residential Company, received design review approval and a civil construction permit in 2022 from the city of Kent, according to a December 2022 Kent Reporter article. The project, known as Prose Kent Station, will cover four parcels along Novak Lane, including 405 Novak Lane.

Prose Kent Station will open in the summer of 2024, according to a Alliance Residential Company spokesperson. The project also will include approximately 10,270 square feet of commercial space and 304 parking spaces.

The apartments will be comprised of one and two bedroom units plus a ground floor along the south wing consisting of commercial spaces, according to the applicant.

“This gated community is in an ideal location, nestled off Central Avenue and walking distance from Sound Transit and The Kent Station shopping complex,” according to the applicant. “The 304 parking spaces offer ample room for cars and the large dwelling unit footprints allow for bicycles to be stored within the units, therefore the project accommodates many different modes of transportation.”

The complex will feature spacious and stylish apartment homes with stainless steel appliances, in-unit washers and dryers, quartz countertops and wood-style flooring, according to Prosekent.com.

Other features and amenities will include a welcoming lobby with modern lounge area; convenient coworking space with multiple seating options; well-equipped fitness center, yoga and on-demand fitness studio; 24/7 mail room and package room; and an outdoor nature area with picnic tables.

Alliance Residential bought the Novak Lane properties for $3.67 million in August 2022, according to King County property records.

[9,4
["post-63779","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-news
