Sixty-three events were held in Kent as part of the annual National Night Out.

The Aug. 1 events spanned across town from the East Hill to the Valley and to the West Hill. Barbecues, bouncy houses, axe throwing (axes made of foam), dessert buffets, potlucks, cornhole, reading at the library, food trucks and more were featured, according to Kent Police.

The Kent Library, Riverview Community Church and Kent YMCA hosted community events in their neighborhoods. Residents organized activities in many other neighborhoods.

“You all gathered in your own way and made those connections happen with your neighbors, your PD and your city,” according to a Kent Police statement.

Officers, firefighters and city officials make stops at numerous events.

“This is quite literally our favorite night of the year because we get to slow down, chat and fellowship,” police said.
