Kent School Board incumbent Leslie Hamada dominated the Aug. 1 primary while Donald Cook stands in second followed by Stephanie Lawson and Lizz Morgan.<\/p>\n

The two candidates with the most votes advance to the Nov. 7 general election.<\/p>\n

Hamada has 48.75% (8,067 votes), Cook 23.96% (3,965 votes), Lawson 18.40% (3,045 votes) and Morgan 8.15% (1,348 votes), according to King County Election results updated Wednesday, Aug. 2.<\/p>\n

King County Elections will update results each weekday until the election is certified Aug. 15.<\/p>\n

Lawson said in a Facebook post Aug. 2 that she is endorsing Cook over Hamada for the position on the November ballot.<\/p>\n

None of the candidates have much in campaign contributions, according to the state Public Disclosure Commission on Aug. 1. Morgan had the highest amount at $1,450 followed by Cook with $710. Hamada and Lawson showed no contributions on their reports.<\/p>\n

Voters elected Hamada to the District 3 seat in November 2019 when she ran unopposed. Her four-year term ends in November 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
