A 48-year-old Maple Valley woman, shot in the head July 28 in Kent, has died.<\/p>\n
Kent Police Chief Rafael Padilla confirmed the woman’s death in a July 31 email. As of July 31, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office had not released the woman’s identity.<\/p>\n
The woman was shot in the 11100 block of SE 240th Street, according to Kent Police. Paramedics transported her to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
Police said it was not a random incident.<\/p>\n
Officers responded at about 1:52 a.m. to 114th Way SE and SE 230th Place in response to a 911 call of a shooting, according to police. The 911 caller said her friend had been shot and they were starting CPR. Officers were advised that the woman was in the caller’s vehicle and they were driving around to seek help. The women were about a mile from the shooting location.<\/p>\n
Officers arrived within minutes and found the woman inside the vehicle, which was now parked. She had a gunshot wound to the head. Officers removed her from the vehicle to provide aid, according to police. Puget Sound Fire personnel and medics arrived and began lifesaving measures.<\/p>\n
Police determined the shooting was in the 11100 block of SE 240th Street. The location is just south of the Phoenix Court Apartments, where multiple shootings have occurred this year, including two fatal shootings, one on Feb. 11 and the other on July 15.<\/p>\n
The suspects were described as three males ages 17 to 25 wearing dark clothing. One male was wearing gray sweats.<\/p>\n
Kent Violent Crime Detectives were called out to the scene to take over the investigation. They canvassed for video, witnesses and items of evidence.<\/p>\n

18th homicide this year<\/strong><\/p>\n The case is the 18th homicide so far this year in Kent, according to Kent Police.
