{"id":62732,"date":"2023-05-17T12:06:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-17T19:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-police-arrest-man-for-possible-kidnapping-of-woman\/"},"modified":"2023-05-17T12:06:00","modified_gmt":"2023-05-17T19:06:00","slug":"kent-police-arrest-man-for-possible-kidnapping-of-woman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-police-arrest-man-for-possible-kidnapping-of-woman\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Police arrest man for possible kidnapping of woman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent Police arrested a 33-year-old Kent man for investigation of kidnapping and eluding after he reportedly forced a woman into his vehicle and then fled from officers.<\/p>\n<p>Officers responded at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/F6SC7DgBX9gA6MgPA\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"map\" rel=\"noopener\">to the 1200 block of West Smith Street<\/a> after a 911 caller reported &ldquo;suspicious circumstances,&rdquo; according to a May 17 Kent Police statement.<\/p>\n<p>The caller described what they believed to be a domestic violence incident with a man possibly kidnapping a woman and taking her in a vehicle, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Officers arrived in the area, located the described vehicle and attempted to pull it over. With the 911 caller&rsquo;s description of the vehicle and incident, police decided there was enough information to develop probable cause for kidnapping and to pursue the vehicle, according to the police statement.<\/p>\n<p>When the driver refused to pull over, the pursuing officer determined he had a safe location to utilize a maneuver with his SUV to stop the suspect&rsquo;s vehicle, according to police. The officer successfully caused the vehicle to stop.<\/p>\n<p>Officers arrested the man without incident and the woman was safely recovered.
