The King County Wastemobile will be in Kent from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, March 3, Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5.

The mobile hazardous waste collection service will be available at Puget Sound Fire Station No. 75, 5635 SE 272nd St. The service makes it easy for people to safely get rid of household hazardous waste closer to home.

Residents and small businesses can safely drop off their household hazardous waste at no cost. This year, the Wastemobile will make 21 stops in 12 areas across the county.

The Wastemobile takes items such as batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, propane and butane tanks, automotive fluids and oils, pesticides and much more. A full list of accepted items and quantity limits for residents and eligible businesses is online at kingcountyhazwastewa.gov.

Wastemobile visitors can also check out a reusable household products cart, where they can grab other donated automotive, cleaning and home improvement products that are still in good condition. There is no cost to take items, but a release form is required.

Created in 1989, the Wastemobile was the nation’s first traveling hazardous waste collection program. It is operated by the Hazardous Waste Management Program and makes weekend trips throughout the county.

Over its 34 years in operation, the Wastemobile has collected more than 17,000 tons of hazardous household waste from nearly 500,000 visitors. Residents help protect the environment and public health by safely disposing of their hazardous materials and keeping them out of drains and landfills.

In addition to the Wastemobile, King County residents and eligible businesses can drop off hazardous waste year-round at disposal locations in North Seattle, South Seattle, Factoria and Auburn. The Auburn site is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at 1101 Outlet Collection Way, near the loading dock of Nordstrom Rack.
