Some lucky person in Washington state bought the winning $754.6 million Powerball jackpot Feb. 5 at the Auburn Fred Meyer, 801 Auburn Way N., the Washington Lottery announced Tuesday morning.

The winning ticket represents the fifth largest payout in the game’s history. As of Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 7, the winner had not yet come forward to claim the prize. The retailer who sold the winning ticket will receive a selling bonus of $50,000.

The jackpot had swelled to $747 million before Monday night’s drawing, but final ticket sales fattened it to an estimated $754.6 million.

This is the second winning Powerball ticket sold in Washington state, and the second in Auburn, according to state lottery officials. In 2014, an Auburn woman won the $90 million jackpot. A $1 million Powerball prize from a ticket purchased in Airway Heights, near Spokane, in November 2022 remains unclaimed.

Winning players have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize. By law, the prizes that aren’t claimed are placed into a reserve account, the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, which supports education in Washington state.

Washington’s Lottery has regional offices in Everett, Federal Way, Olympia, Spokane, and Yakima, which are open to the public to claim prizes Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to the amount of this win, Washington’s Lottery requires the winner to schedule an appointment with the lottery headquarters office in Olympia to make a safe and secure in-person claim.
