A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a 63-year-old Federal Way woman Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 27 in downtown Kent.<\/p>\n
Initial reports from witnesses indicated that the woman was standing near the bus stop on the north side of West James Street, west of Fourth Avenue <\/a>North<\/a>, according to a Kent Police statement. The suspect vehicle was initially observed traveling west on James Street. The car reportedly left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk, where it hit a light pole and then struck the woman.<\/p>\n Officers responded at about 4:40 p.m. to reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision, according to police. Officers found the woman unconscious and lying in the roadway. Officers began life-saving efforts which medics took over, but the woman died at the scene.<\/p>\n The suspect vehicle is a dark-colored sedan. The driver fled after the collision.
