{"id":6132,"date":"2014-07-07T11:23:59","date_gmt":"2014-07-07T18:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/highline-college-foundation-receives-donations-for-marine-science-camp\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T11:05:40","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T18:05:40","slug":"highline-college-foundation-receives-donations-for-marine-science-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/highline-college-foundation-receives-donations-for-marine-science-camp\/","title":{"rendered":"Highline College Foundation receives donations for marine science camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><strong>For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Highline College&#8217;s Marine Science and Technology Center (MaST) recently received two generous donations to support its annual &#8220;Summer on the Sound&#8221; Marine Science Camp.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Totem Ocean Trailer Express gave $2,500 and an anonymous donor contributed $10,000 to support the operations and the cost of students to attend the summer camp.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;These donations make it possible for children from any background or means to participate in camp,&#8221; said Kaddee Lawrence, MaST Center director. &#8220;The MaST Center and our generous donors recognize this experience as a cornerstone for life-long environmental stewardship.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Summer on the Sound is a week-long, half-day camp that focuses on life in the Puget Sound for third through fifth grade students that are passionate about science and the ocean. The camp is July 7-11 at the MaST Center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The MaST Center is at 28203 Redondo Beach Dr. S., Des Moines.
