{"id":59714,"date":"2022-08-20T09:53:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-20T16:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/man-28-fatally-shot-during-dispute-at-kent-apartment-complex\/"},"modified":"2022-08-22T16:47:47","modified_gmt":"2022-08-22T23:47:47","slug":"man-28-fatally-shot-during-dispute-at-kent-apartment-complex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/man-28-fatally-shot-during-dispute-at-kent-apartment-complex\/","title":{"rendered":"Man, 28, fatally shot during dispute at Kent apartment complex identified | Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent Police took a 71-year-old man into custody after the fatal shooting a 28-year-old man during a dispute Friday, Aug. 19 <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/8E8X2YCxPUBHv5Uj9\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"map\" rel=\"noopener\">in the parking lot at the Riverwood Apartments, 24620 Russell Road<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Juan Manuel Vazio Vasquez died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to the King County Medical Examiner&rsquo;s Office on Monday, Aug. 22.<\/p>\n<p>Officers responded just after 6:30 p.m. to a report of a dispute between two men in the parking lot of the apartment complex just south of West Meeker Street and east of the Riverbend Driving Range, according to a police statement. Multiple apartment residents called 911 to report sounds of the altercation that escalated into a shooting of the one man.<\/p>\n<p>Officers arrived within two minutes of being dispatched and discovered Vasquez in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to police. He was unconscious and without a pulse. Officers performed life-saving medical aid but were not able to revive Vasquez.<\/p>\n<p>Both men are believed to be residents of the apartment complex, according to police. The Kent Major Crimes detectives were called to the scene to conduct the investigation. The 71-year-old man was detained, and is in custody pending the outcome of the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>No information was released by police about the connection between the two men or what the dispute was about.<\/p>\n<p>This is the seventh homicide this year, according to Kent Police.
