A 31-year-old Enumclaw man has been arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide and DUI after a fatal crash Monday night, June 27 along Highway 18 near Tiger Mountain.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the man was driving a 2010 Ford Escape westbound on the highway with a 27-year-old Maple Valley woman around 8:09 p.m. when he collided with the back of a semi truck.

The truck was disabled and blocking a lane. The semi driver had put on the hazard lights and placed triangles to indicate the vehicle was disabled while he was working on it, according to the State Patrol.

The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, died at the scene. Most of the damage to the vehicle was on the passenger side. Paramedics transported the Enumclaw man to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. The truck driver was uninjured.

It took about four hours before the highway was cleared.
