The Tri-City Americans beat the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 Tuesday night at the ShoWare Center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds next play Friday, Dec. 28, against the Everett Silvertips at the ShoWare Center at 7:35 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Americans (20-12-1-2) got on the board first through Beau McCue’s unassisted effort only 58 seconds into the game to make it 1-0. It was his 10th goal of the season for Tri-City.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Thunderbirds (16-17-1-1) responded with a power-play goal from Justin Hickman. Luke Lockhart had the puck at the left circle in the Tri-City zone and passed it across to Brendan Rouse in the right circle. Rouse slid a one-time pass to Hickman at the back door to fire it in from the left side of the crease for his ninth of the season to tie the game. The goal came at the 3:12 mark of the first.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The teams headed into the intermission tied 1-1, with Seattle outshooting Tri-City 14-7 in the first.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The second period saw Tri-City take a 2-1 lead on Ryan Chynoweth’s first goal of the year. Justin Gutierrez was given the assist with the goal coming at 3:28.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Shots in the second period were 12-9 in favor of the American’s, with a total after two periods 23-19 Seattle.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Tri-City scored two goals in the third period to make the final tally to 4-1. The first goal came at 12:20 of the third from Malte Stromwall, his 12th of the year. Justin Feser and Michal Plutnar had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The final goal from Tri-City came at the 14-minute mark. McCue scored his second goal of the night and was assisted by Feser and Stromwall.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Shots in the final period were 13-7 in favor of the Americans, and ended 32-30 Tri-City.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Brandon Glover stopped 28 of 32 shots for the Thunderbirds, and now has an overall record of 15-13-1-1.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Eric Comrie stopped 28 of 30 shot for the Americans and improved his record to 17-12-1-2.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
