Did you know that as many as eight out of 10 car seats are installed incorrectly? These incorrect installations can lead to increased risk of injury or death for children during a vehicle crash.

Responsible adults, whether parents, family, or caregivers, want to keep children as safe as possible when in a vehicle, but how do you know whether you are doing all you can to protect them?

The Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority has a safe, simple, and no cost answer to this potential problem. During February and March, two car seat safety classes will be offered free to the public to not only fit car seats properly, but to answer other safety questions such as, when do I move my child from a rear-facing car seat to one that is forward-facing?

This two-hour class is hosted by the Kent Fire Department RFA. The department instructors are certified car seat technicians with years of experience and will help you keep your family safe.

Space is limited for these free classes, so early registration is recommended. To register, call 253-856-4415.
