Ethan Bear scored twice to lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 3-2 Western Hockey League victory over the Tri-City Americans in front of 4,066 at the ShoWare Center on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds (6-1-1-0) stretched their winning streak to five games.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle hits the road this weekend. The T-Birds play the Vancouver Giants at 7:35 p.m. Friday at the Pacific Coliseum, then take on the Everett Silvertips for 7:05 p.m. game Saturday at Xfinity Arena.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The game against the Americans was the T-Birds’ annual GLOW Pink The Rink Night. The team wore special pink trimmed jerseys that were auctioned off after the game to support uncompensated care at the Breast Center at Valley Medical Center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle tied the game 1-1 at 13:32 of the second period. Turner Ottenbreit passed the puck to Jamal Watson who skated down the right wing with speed. Watson cut toward the goal and put a backhand shot on Tri-City goalie Evan Sarthou. Sarthou made the save, but Scott Eansor banged in the rebound to tie the game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Both teams had 17 shots on goal after two periods.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Bear put the T-Birds up 2-1 at 2:21 of the third period. Alexander True won a board battle and got the puck low to Nick Holowko. Holowko crossed the puck to Turner Ottenbreit at the left point. Ottenbreit quickly send it back to Bear in the high point. Bear skated down the slot and beat Sarthou with a wrist shot low for his first goal of the season.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Tri-City tied the game 2-2 at 4:59 of the third.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Bear put the T-Birds in front 3-2 at 11:56 of the third with a power-play goal. Bear took a shot from center ice inside the blue line with True screening Sarthou. The Tri-City goalie did not move as the puck found the back of the net. Jamal Watson and Keegan Kolesar had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Americans got a late power play and pulled Sarthou for an extra attacker. Flodell made several key saves and the T-Birds were able to hold on for the victory.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Flodell improved his record to 4-0-0-0 by stopping 27 of 29 shots.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Sarthou had 22 saves on 25 shots and his record is now 4-4-1-0.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
