With the cold weather conditions, the city of Kent is activating a severe weather shelter Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, Dec. 5-7, at Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Ave. S.

Operated by Catholic Community Services staff and volunteers from Kent Lutheran Church, the shelter will open each night at 9 p.m. for check-in and registration and close at 7 a.m. each morning.

Priority is given to homeless families with children living on the streets or in vehicles, but the shelter also will be available for single women and men. As with all shelters, rules for the health and safety of all clients and staff and the broader community will apply.
