Kent School District officials are recommending that students get a COVID-19 test before returning to school on Monday, Jan. 3, if they show any symptoms.<\/p>\n
”We recommend a COVID test before students return to school on January 3 so that our school communities stay as healthy as possible,” according to a Tuesday, Dec. 28 district statement. “If you have any questions about COVID testing or have close contact with someone with COVID, please contact your health care provider with questions or call Public Health-Seattle & King County at 206-477-3977. Language assistance is available.”<\/p>\n

In addition, this week, the CDC has updated quarantine guidelines.<\/p>\n “We are now awaiting updates from the Washington State Department of Health,” according to the district. “Kent School District will continue to follow state guidelines, and we will continue to communicate as guidelines change.”<\/p>\n COVID safety<\/strong><\/p>\n Over winter break, many of us gather to celebrate holidays. Gatherings create opportunities for COVID to spread. District officials said to please remember your decisions to gather with people outside of your household may put you and others at risk for COVID.<\/p>\n The district asks students and their families to please follow these state Department of Health recommendations:<\/p>\n • Wear face coverings for all indoor public gatherings and at outdoor events with 500 or more people.<\/p>\n • Keep gatherings small, social distance, wear masks, and open windows for ventilation.<\/p>\n • If you are traveling or develop any symptoms after a gathering, get a COVID test.<\/p>\n • Get vaccinated. Vaccinations are now available for individuals ages 5+.<\/p>\n • Get a booster shot. Boosters are now available for individuals ages 16+.<\/p>\n • Wash your hands frequently and disinfect high touch surfaces regularly<\/p>\n
