How bad are the highways and freeways in King County due to all the snow this week?<\/p>\n

Well, Washington State Patrol troopers have responded in King County to 279 collisions and 865 other incidents, such as vehicles stuck, etc., since the snow began falling on Christmas, according to a State Patrol tweet on Tuesday morning, Dec. 28.<\/p>\n

“Stay home if you can, if not, slow down,” the State Patrol tweeted.<\/p>\n

Numerous lanes were blocked Dec. 26 along northbound Interstate 5 near Southcenter in Tukwila after a trooper’s SUV was struck, according to the State Patrol. The trooper was not injured.<\/p>\n

The National Weather Service predicts more snow could fall in the Seattle area Wednesday night and into Thursday, possibly another 1 to 2 inches.<\/p>\n

Temperatures are predicted to stay below freezing until a high of 36 degrees on Thursday, but the low that night could drop to 20. On New Year’s Day, the high is predicted to be 39 and the low 34.
