The city of Kent Severe Weather Shelter, will be open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Thursday, Dec. 27-30 at Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Ave. <\/a>S<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The high and low temperatures are expected to be below freezing most of the week, according to the National Weather Service. Monday’s temps are expected to be a high of 25 and a low of 23. Tuesday will hit a high of 32 and a low of 20. Wednesday will have a high of 31 and a low of 22 followed by Thursday with a high of 38 and a low of 22. Temperatures are expected to be above freezing on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 1-2.<\/p>\n

Due to the rise in positive COVID-19 cases, capacity is limited to 50 guests each night, according to city officials.<\/p>\n

Shelter details:<\/p>\n

• Will open at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

• Doors will close once capacity (50 guests) is reached<\/p>\n

• Masks are required to be worn at all times, regardless of vaccination status<\/p>\n

• Guests must practice social distancing and stay in their assigned locations<\/p>\n

• Bottled water and pre-packaged snacks will be available<\/p>\n

• No re-entry upon exit<\/p>\n

• Guests must vacate shelter by 7 a.m.<\/p>\n

• Kent Severe Weather Shelter operation is dependent on availability of adequate staffing<\/p>\n

Warming center at Kent Commons<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kent Commons Community Center, 525 Fourth Ave. <\/a>N.<\/a>, has opened the Crystal Mountain Hall Room to serve as a daytime warming center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27 through Thursday, Dec. 30.<\/p>\n

Guests must provide documentation of being fully vaccinated or provide a negative COVID-19 test result (taken within 72 hours of entry) to enter the Kent Commons. Masks are required all times. All guests must adhere to regular building code of conduct.<\/p>\n

Accepted vaccination documentation includes CDC COVID-19 vaccine record card or photo of vaccine card, printed certificate or QR code from MyIRMobile.com, or other official immunization record from within or outside the U.S.<\/p>\n

Accepted negative COVID-19 test results taken within 72 hours of entry include FDA-approved molecular test (PCR test), negative FDA-approved antigen test (rapid test). Documentation must be from a testing agent such as a laboratory, health care provider, or pharmacy.
