Seattle’s seventh- and eighth-grade teams with Kent-area players will travel to San Antonio, Texas this weekend to compete for a national youth football championship.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Team Seattle 7th plays Iowa and Team Seattle 8th faces St. Louis in the FBU semifinals Friday at Wheatley Heights Sports Complex. The winners advance to the championship game in the Alamodome on Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Team Seattle 8th advanced to the final four with a 28-14 win over Team Orange County in the fourth round at Sacramento, Calif., on Dec. 14. Team Seattle 7th reached the semifinals by defeating Team Orange County, 28-7, on Dec. 15, also in Sacramento.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

This year’s tournament marked the third year of the youth football event, with 64 teams nationwide, including more than 250 games, 6,000 athletes and 1,200 coaches. The tournament showcased 250 games through a four-week period, resulting in more than 1,000 hours of play.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
