Four families were displaced by a Kent apartment fire at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the 22400 block of the Benson Road on the East Hill.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
A responding battalion chief reported that he could see a large thermal column in the area of the complex, according to a Kent Fire Department media release.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The first arriving emergency unit reported smoke and flames visible from the building, the building appeared evacuated and made an aggressive attack on the fire. Due to the size and intensity of the fire and the size of the building, a second alarm was struck bringing additional fire department units from Renton and Auburn to assist in fighting the blaze.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire officials did not yet have a damage estimate. There were no injuries. Firefighters extinguished the fire by 4 a.m.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Red Cross has provided assistance to three of the families. One family is staying with friends in the complex.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
