Division Chief Pat Pawlak will become the new Puget Sound Fire public information officer when Capt. Joe Root retires at the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Pawlak has been with Puget Sound Fire (previously the Kent Fire Department) for 36 years. He is a division chief that oversees Facilities and Property Management. He served as the agency’s public information officer from September 1999 until May 2004.<\/p>\n

Root has been the public information officer since June 2019. He has worked with the department for more than 30 years and has served as a firefighter, engineer, engine company officer, hazardous materials response team captain and as a code enforcement officer.<\/p>\n

Root replaced Kyle Ohashi, who worked as public information officer for 15 years prior to retiring after 30 years with the department.<\/p>\n

Kent-based Puget Sound Fire, aka Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, serves the cities of Kent, Covington, Maple Valley and SeaTac. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
