Joe Root retires at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Pawlak has been with Puget Sound Fire (previously the Kent Fire Department) for 36 years. He is a division chief that oversees Facilities and Property Management. He served as the agency&rsquo;s public information officer from September 1999 until May 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Root has been the public information officer since June 2019.
