A birthday cake martini, complimentary dessert and a new fall menu are planned for the 10th anniversary celebration of Airways Brewing Bistro & Beer Garden on Nov. 5-7 in downtown Kent at 320 W. Harrison St.

With the business milestone comes the announcement of plans for an expanded patio, set for completion in spring 2022.

“People enjoy our outside space, so we’re remodeling to make it even more comfortable and convenient,” said Dione Dittmar, co-owner and general manager, in an Airways Brewing news release. “We’re adding a small kitchen with a walk-up window and a permanent cover adjustable for year-round use, among other things.”

Dittmar said the walk-up window will offer smoked and grilled items—convenient for people attending events at nearby accesso ShoWare Center and other downtown entertainment.

The upcoming patio expansion will include seating for 100 guests, bike racks, built-in heaters, an ADA-compliant restroom, new planters and lighting. Raven Commercial Real Estate, the building’s owner, is leading the expansion project.

At the anniversary event, guests can enjoy all-day happy hour items and complimentary dessert with a purchase. A birthday cake martini and other specials will be available for purchase.

A new happy hour menu and seasonal menu options continue to focus on the in house smoked meats and upscale bar fare the bistro is known for. Among the new food items are:

• Smoked duck breast with farro risotto

• Wild mushroom flatbread with 12-month mimolette

• Arugula salad with white balsamic vinaigrette, bacon lardons and sunny side up egg

• Jaegerschnitzel

• Smoked scallops in romesco sauce

Per the recent King County COVID-19 requirements, Airways will check for proof of vaccine or a negative COVID-19 test for indoor dining.

Airways Brewing’s first location was the Tap Room & Brewery, which opened March 11, 2010. The Bistro & Beer Garden originally opened Nov. 1, 2011, in a single space that is now the bar. In 2016, the restaurant expanded with a new kitchen and an additional 60 seats on the patio. When pandemic restrictions limited indoor dining last year, the bistro added tents on the patio to make outdoor seating more comfortable during the cold, wet weather.
